ASSOCIATE SERVICE CHIEF OF PHARMACY OPERATIONS

Responsible for the provision of pharmaceutical care and services provided by the healthcare system. Responsible for maintaining an active license for the Pharmacy. Assures all legal requirements for state, federal, VA, and DoD are continually met within written guidelines and sound pharmaceutical judgment. Maintains effective personnel management program within pharmacy including E.E.O. awareness, training opportunities, tuition support, and individual development plans. The incumbent supervises, and reviews evaluations of personnel made by subordinate supervisors. Provides attention to address employee complaints/grievances, with the goal of resolving them at the lowest possible level. Promotes cultural diversity to establish and environment that works for all employees and strives to achieve and maintain a culturally diverse work force, which is comparable to the civilian workforce. Has direct supervisory responsibility for the Inpatient Pharmacy Supervisor, Outpatient Pharmacy Supervisor, Pharmacy Supply Section, Drug use Manager, Automation Technician, and the Pharmacy Informatics Program Manager. Responsible for on-going review and evaluation of inpatient and outpatient pharmacy activities which include the intravenous admixture program, unit dose medication management system, processing of outpatient prescriptions, drug medication counseling, and CMOP support while maintaining timeliness, accuracy and innovative computerization/automation to support these programs. Identifies continuing education needs. Assures pharmacy employees are properly trained and maintains records of all such trainings. Assures that new employees are properly oriented and instructed to their work area(s), including computer security, fire/safety, and equipment operation. Participates in self-development activities to maintain and increase professional competence, including regulations, pharmacology, therapeutics and age-related treatment issues. Provides drug education that meets the needs of patients and the medical staff. Meets the needs of all customers while supporting FHCC personnel in the pursuit of maintaining the missions that have been established for the integrated health care services. Consistently communicates and treats customers (Veterans, their representatives, visitors, FHCC staff, etc.) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately. (2) Graduates of foreign pharmacy degree programs meet the educational requirement if the graduate is able to provide proof of achieving the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Commission (FPGEC) Certification, which includes passing the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) and the Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test (TOEFL iBT). Licensure. Full, current and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia. The pharmacist must maintain current registration if this is a requirement for maintaining full, current, and unrestricted licensure. A pharmacist who has, or has ever had, any license(s) revoked, suspended, denied, restricted, limited, or issued/placed in a probationary status may be appointed only in accordance with the provisions in VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, section B, paragraph 16. Physical Requirements. See VA Directive and Handbook 5019. English Language Proficiency. Pharmacists must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d). Knowledge of Professional Pharmacy Practices. To be creditable, the experience must have demonstrated the use of knowledge, skills, and abilities associated with professional pharmacy practice. Professional practice means paid/non-paid employment as a professional or unlicensed graduate pharmacist as defined by the appropriate licensing board. Residency and Fellowship Training. Residency and fellowship training programs in a specialized area of clinical pharmacy practice may be substituted for creditable experience on a year-for-year basis. The pharmacy residency program must be accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). A fellowship program that is not accredited by the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) will need to have comparable standards for experience to be creditable (Professional Standards Board refers to the Deputy Chief Consultant for Professional Practice for the determination). Grade Requirements Experience. In addition to the GS-13 requirements, must have 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Assignments. Candidates at this grade level are to be in one of the assignments listed below. For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher level duties must consist of significant scope, administrative independence, complexity (difficulty) and range of variety as described in this standard at the specified grade level and be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time. Minimum of two years in a supervisory role with oversight of direct patient care activities (i.e. direct reports practicing under a Scope of Practice or Care Coordination Agreement) and/or completion of a post-graduate year 2 (PGY2) Pharmacy Administration residency accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). GS-14 Associate Service Chief. Responsible for coordinating multiple programs in pharmacy service in a medical facility. Serves as the Acting Service Chief in the absence of the Service Chief. Develops and maintains a system of internal reviews that ensure service programs operate at a satisfactory level of performance and in compliance with regulatory and accrediting bodies. Responsible for pharmacy utilization of resources and budget. Makes selections, assigns personnel, and serves as a mentor to help employees develop their full potential. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
