Psychology Technician

Major duties include, but are not limited to:
Prepares written assessment and assists in the development of treatment goals based on assessment and with discussion and guidance from the multidisciplinary treatment team. Participates in treatment and discharge planning. Conducts group, individual and family counseling sessions in accordance with the goals and direction from the treatment team. Maintains appropriate records, charting information, in accordance with VA and JCAHO standards. Develops and maintains appropriate communications, rapport, and positive working relationships with a variety of disciplines. Administers, scores, and evaluates the results of standardized testing for substance abusers. Oversees the collection of specimens and/or toxicological testing and other adjunct treatment afforded chemically dependent patients. Collects data for studies including follow up studies relating to the treatment and effectiveness of the Substance Abuse program. Participates in crisis intervention, stabilization and follow-up of patients. Crisis situations may involve intervention in potential suicide, assault, homicide, etc. Assists in discharge planning and coordinates with treatment team appropriate aftercare plan. Provides aftercare/outpatient treatment/counseling as required with direction from the treatment team. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-08. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:

Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-08 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Experience that involved the observation of and assistance in the application of techniques relating to behavior, capacities, traits, interests, and activities of either humans or, under laboratory conditions, animals. Experience may have been gained in connection with a program of research or direct services in psychology that gave a practical understanding of some of the principles, methods, and techniques of psychology needed to assist professional psychologists. OR, Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have two full years of graduate (Masters Level) education, with a major in psychology, or other major directly related to the work of the position. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
