DUTIES INCLUDE:
Registers donors for Blood Drive and ensures documentation on official forms is accurate. Performs vital station testing for pulse, blood pressure, temperature and hemoglobin evaluation to qualify prospective donors for phlebotomy. Screens potential donors and discusses medical, conflict of interest or travel reasons that may defer a donation. Performs donor phlebotomy when assigned. Performs a range of testing to include basic ABO/Rh, antibody screening, micro-capillary sampling, quality control testing, red cell recovery calculations, proficiency testing, and serological visualization for qualitative sickle cell testing. Manufactures components for the preparation of Red Blood Cell, Frozen or Deglycerolized Red Blood Cells, Fresh Frozen Plasma, and Cryoprecipitate and Recovered Plasma. Creates and labels manufactured products. Transitions from the mobile drive site to the main facility processing site. Handles donor samples, component manufacture/testing/labeling, inventory management and shipping. Evaluates the accuracy of quality control and test performance. Reviews testing for completeness and accuracy. Assists supervisors in the performance of correlation and validation studies. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:

(a) Technical medical laboratory support work such as performing laboratory tests and examinations (chemical, microbiologic, hematologic and blood banking) and preparing reports of findings or (b) technical support work in a closely related field, e.g., biological laboratory technician work, that required application of the methods and techniques for the position to be filled. OR Education and Training For GS-4:
Successful completion of (a) an associate-degree course of study of which the 2nd year of the 2-year program included successful completion of a training course of approximately a year's duration in a certified laboratory assistant school approved by a nationally recognized accrediting agency; (b) 1 year of study that included 6 semester hours in chemistry and/or the biological sciences, plus successful completion of the training course as described in (a) above for GS-3; or (c) 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours of chemistry and/or biological science course work that must have been directly related to the specialization of the position to be filled. For GS-5:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects appropriate to the position to be filled. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
GS-7 Level Specialized
Experience:
One full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 grade level in Federal Service. Specialized experience includes (a) Technical medical laboratory support work such as performing laboratory tests and examinations (chemical, microbiologic, hematologic and blood banking) and preparing reports of findings; or (b) technical support work in a closely related field - e.g., biological laboratory technician; and work that required application of the methods and techniques of a Medical Technician. NOTE:
Evidence of specialized experience must be supported by detailed documentation of duties performed in positions held. Please provide such documentation on resume. OR GS-7 Level Education:
(TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed one full year of graduate education or 18 semester hours in courses that are directly related to the work of this position. Physical Requirements:
The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as standing for long periods of time, bending, standing, lifting, walking, stooping and stretching. Lifting up to 40 pounds occurs when equipment and administrative documentation must be transported from the main facility to the mobile drive site. Dexterity in equipment operation and testing of specimens and also color vision are required as appropriate for the work performed. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
