Medical Technician (Phlebotomist)

DUTIES INCLUDE:
Draws blood from eligible, DoD affiliated donors. Verifies patient identification on lab requests and labels all specimens correctly per laboratory protocol. Assures that the proper tubes/specimen containers are used and the correct amount of blood is drawn or specimen collected. Must be proficient in the area of phlebotomy, being able to draw all but the most difficult patients. Develops and maintains the essential speed required to complete the blood drawing duties in a timely manner. Interacts with hospital personnel to correct discrepancies with testing requests. Makes sound decisions independently and takes appropriate action to correct and solve problems. Knowledge of aseptic principles and techniques to protect self and others through proper hand care and use of gloves and other protective clothing. Maintain a safe, clean, and well organized laboratory environment. Work Schedule:

(a) Technical medical laboratory support work such as performing laboratory tests and examinations (chemical, microbiologic, hematologic and blood banking) and preparing reports of findings or (b) technical support work in a closely related field, e.g., biological laboratory technician work, that required application of the methods and techniques for the position to be filled. OR Education and Training For GS-4:
Successful completion of (a) an associate-degree course of study of which the 2nd year of the 2-year program included successful completion of a training course of approximately a year's duration in a certified laboratory assistant school approved by a nationally recognized accrediting agency; (b) 1 year of study that included 6 semester hours in chemistry and/or the biological sciences, plus successful completion of the training course as described in (a) above for GS-3; or (c) 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours of chemistry and/or biological science course work that must have been directly related to the specialization of the position to be filled. To qualify for this position you must have experience, education, or a combination of both. GS-5 Level Specialized
Experience:
One full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level in Federal Service. Specialized experience includes (a) Technical medical laboratory support work such as performing laboratory tests and examinations (chemical, microbiologic, hematologic and blood banking) and preparing reports of findings; or (b) technical support work in a closely related field - e.g., biological laboratory technician; and work that required application of the methods and techniques of a phlebotomist. NOTE:
Evidence of specialized experience must be supported by detailed documentation of duties performed in positions held. Please provide such documentation on resume. OR GS-5 Level Education:
(TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects appropriate to the position to be filled. This education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work and be directly related to the duties of this position. OR GS-5 Level Combination of Experience and Education:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
