Prosthetic Clerk

Duties:
Greets visitors and takes phones calls. Determines Eligibility and entitlement for the Veterans regarding Prosthetic items. Issues prosthetic items from inventory. Determines when patient education is required and refers Veterans to appropriate Clinician for training. Assists visitors and callers with the completion of forms and documents necessary to provide the prosthetic items. Records minutes during staff meetings and monitors employee training requirements and maintains employee files. Processes and distributes incoming mail. Maintains adequate office supplies. Follows up on credit card and pending orders by calling vendors and veterans. Schedules appointments. Enters required Health information into the coding System. Performs other duties as assigned. Experience:
One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 level in the Federal Service that equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the Prosthetic Clerk position, and that is typically in or related to the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
examining records and files to determine eligibility and entitlement for services; utilizing various computer systems to access, input, track and maintain information; skill in time management, multi-tasking and organization; experience processing payments and claims for reimbursement; and communication and interpersonal relation skills sufficient to appropriately and courteously relate to internal and external customers both verbally and in writing NOTE:

Successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial and technical school. Physical Requirements:
Work is primarily sedentary and is carried out in an office setting. There is prolonged periods of working at a computer terminal. Ability to retrieve equipment from a storage room is required. Climbing associated with stocking of equipment and other items in storage areas is necessary. Incumbent may/carry items weighting up to fifty (50) pounds. Normal safety precautions are adequate. The work involves moderate discomfort when visiting sites away from the office. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
