Registered Nurse (Immunizations)

With administrative oversight by the Division Officer/Nurse Manager, or Department Head, the RN provides independent nursing expertise in assessment, data collection, and analysis. The RN assesses the patient's clinical and psychosocial status, diagnosis, and current treatment plan. He/she coordinates the myriad of medical treatments, referrals, and education. Assesses the needs of patients related to diagnosis, treatment options, psychosocial impact, and discharge planning. Specifically, the incumbent must (1) expertly assess the immunization needs for new patients, (2) assured the safe delivery of immunization to each patient, (3) monitor staff proficiency in the area of immunization and provide all necessary education to staff members working in this department, (4) monitor and drive the highest quality of treatment and related health services and was sure that they are delivered in a timely manner, (5) ensure readiness for all regulatory and surveys of the immunization programs, (6) assist in writing protocol and policies with respect to the immunization programs, (7) performed timely code blue drills to enhance lifesaving efforts and (8) lead all true code/emergency events that may transpire within or just outside of the clinic. Responsibilities:
The registered nurse is accountable for adhering to established policies, standards of care, and standards of practice, demonstrating leadership in a service as a role model when assigned as team nurse under the supervision of the Division Officer or designee. The nurse will be responsive to customer needs, ensuring customer satisfaction, which reflects an understanding of age specific and developmental needs as demonstrated by fulfilling the following:
Support the patient needs and coordinate their follow-up needs as appropriate with FHCC providers as required. Coordinate patient appointment and procedural instructions, follow-up and report test results to the appropriate providers. Affectively collaborate with all levels of the healthcare team. This includes, but is not limited to clinics, inpatient Department, physicians, nurses, other healthcare providers such as pharmacist, social workers, psychologist, physical therapist, dietitians and other outpatient departments, ancillary services, community resources, etc. Ensure instruction to the patient based on identified learning needs. Assesses patient health status expectations. Assist with the development of activities and methods to ensure information is articulated and disseminated to staff. Provides tracking and trending of clinical quality issues and is involved in implementation of corrective actions when indicated. Acts as conduit between core staff and Senior Nurse Officer and Department head to assure clear communication between all staff members. Manages productivity and performance measurements and holds immunization staff members accountable to established metrics. As clinic nurse, makes recommendations for advancement and reassignment; gives advice, counsel or instruction on work and administrative matters; recommends and/or takes a disciplinary action when appropriate; identifies developmental and training needs making appropriate provisions for both; and assigns work as appropriate. Conducts training for professional and paraprofessional personnel within the department, clinic, directorate and FHCC. Demonstrates the ability to accept responsibility for actions and for professional and personal growth:
Utilizes self-assessment to improve performance. Guides performance of others who provide nursing care by providing feedback, both verbal and written. Participates in staff orientation program. Plans, initiates, participates within, and presents unit, department, clinic or service wide in-service/continuing education programs and/or organizational improvement projects as assigned. Participates in Performance Evaluation and Improvement (PE & I) activities by evaluating patient care systems that may include standards, protocols, and documentation for efficiency, safety, and quality. Incorporates evaluative data in the provision of ongoing case management services. Serves as a resource to physicians, nurses and other professional personnel at other medical treatment facilities. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Experience:
Have a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing OR an Associate Degree/Diploma in Nursing WITH a Baccalaureate Degree in a related healthcare field. Have at least 18 months RN nursing practice preferably. Be currently certified in BLS. Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. To perform in a fully successful manner, the individual must have the physical ability to perform job-related duties which require lifting, standing, bending, transferring, stooping, stretching, walking, pushing, or pulling without assistance from another patient care provider or significant other. A health examination must be successfully completed prior to this assignment and periodically thereafter as required by the Employee Health Clinic policy.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
