Electronics Mechanic

Installs, troubleshoots, modifies, maintains, tests, calibrates, adjusts, overhauls and repairs a wide variety of complex electronic and electromechanical equipment and/or systems of moderate complexity. Performs operational tests after repairs have been completed and when new equipment is received to ensure that equipment operates within prescribed limits. Conducts preventive maintenance and safety inspections of equipment and maintains appropriate records. Incumbent stays abreast of related technical bulletins, directives, and policy changes in order to ensure proper, safe operation of equipment. Independently determines nature and extent of repairs required. Plans and lays out work from references such as blueprints, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, technical manuals and manufacturer's specifications. Assists in maintaining a schedule for the periodic inspection, calibration and maintenance of assigned equipment. The incumbent investigates and resolves hazardous design deficiencies; determines current ratings of components versus actual current in an electrical circuit. Writes instructional material and conducts training in the procedures, techniques and methods of calibrating and operating assigned equipment. Closes out work orders modifying equipment; files and tracks equipment histories. Employee may be required to drive/operate a government-owned motor vehicle to move materials, supplies and equipment between buildings less than S miles apart at either FHCC campus. The majority of the incumbent's work day is devoted to the servicing of the following types of Closed circuit television systems. Digital camera and alarm systems Digital television receivers and all other patient entertainment systems located in all patient areas. Video display terminals and laser and dot matrix printers utilized throughout the facility in conjunction with IT applications and medical devices. Master antenna systems, including interconnected d. amplifiers, serial and underground coaxial cables relating to reception and transmission of amplitude and frequency modulated signals. Nurse/patient electronic communication systems, including Code Blue alarms.Security alarm systems, including remote and local control stations and power supplies, window, door and motion switches, shunt switching circuitry, etc. Personal computers, including monitors, CD and DVD drives, CPU boards and network connections. Routinely, the incumbent also services the following types of equipment:
Audiovisual equipment as utilized by the medical center including TV camera, video monitors, developing equipment, video tape recorders, projectors, cassette recorders, etc. Station pagers, including chargers Troubleshooting of fax machines on-station Fixed electronic intercommunication and public address systems. Two-way radio equipment operating at government assigned frequencies. Work Schedule:

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Normal physical demands requiring mobility throughout the medical center are routine including areas somewhat inaccessible such as roofs and equipment rooms. Work assignments involve bench and field work where standing, crouching, reaching, stooping, bending and cramped, awkward positions are sometimes necessary; climbing and working in high places may be required. Usually handles objects weighing from 10 to 40 pounds and occasionally will be required to handle objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds, with assistance from lift equipment or other workers. Some work may require the aid of magnifying lenses, eye loops, and microscopes to accomplish repairs on miniature components. Working Conditions/ Work areas, located throughout the numerous buildings at FHCC are generally clean and well lighted, heated and ventilated. Field work involves varying temperature, noise, illumination, and dampness. Work is sometimes in high or restricted places, under conditions of heat and cold and outside in inclement weather. The employee is exposed to the possibility of electric shock, minor to serious burns from electrical or RF energy or hot solder, broken bones, and cuts and bruises. Employee works around radiation, nuclear isotopes and biological hazards.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
