DutiesAs a Deputy Chief Data Scientist, you will:
Oversee accomplishment of the overall planning, design, execution of the Command s data science and data-driven modernization projects for analytics, business intelligence, and data supply chain managementDevelop and implement research, development, innovation, and strategic risk management plans for the Command.Direct strategic concept analysis, innovative research and interdisciplinary program research.Apply scientifically sound best practices in quantitative and qualitative analysis, scientific approaches to reengineering, and other analytic tools applied at enterprise level.Lead development of policies for data science, data supply chain management, assessment, etc. of enterprise strategic risk management.Influence and persuade higher level leadership to accept recommendations for proposed program changes.Forecast, identify and define major problems and future needs of the organization, seeking root causes and develop practical course of action.Supervise and manage a diverse staff of personnel.Develop, implement, evaluate, and improve processes and procedures to monitor efficiency in organization s missions and goals.Analyze, formulate, and test new data theories, principles, and concepts to assess/improve quality of data.Requirements Conditions of EmploymentAppointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.This position has been designated as non-sensitive and requires a personnel security background check. A. Degree:
Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. (You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

a combination of education and experience which includes courses equivalent to 30 semester hours as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate. (You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

One year of specialized experience which includes:
Leading a diverse group of highly professional, technical and support personnel in the development and application of data science strategies for a large organization; Building relationships with partners and/or stakeholders to ensure accomplishment of mission; Planning for long range staffing needs to maintain a strong ever evolving team; Formulating program plans, policies, procedures, and/or programmatic guidance necessary to implement data science and program/process engineering principles and best practices; Analyzing command program elements affecting costs and/or effectiveness for programs and projects; Representing the organization on a variety of liaison, advisory, and/or consulting assignments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement:
Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
