Summary:
The Department of Student Life in the Division of Student Success and Wellness at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science welcomes applications for a full-time Fitness and Recreation Manager.
The Fitness and Recreation Manager will be responsible for managing fitness, recreational opportunities, and intramural sports offered at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, and will report to the Director of Student Life in the Division of Student Success and Wellness.
The intramural program will also include a committee of student representatives, who are members of the current student Athletics Club, who will be responsible for assisting in the facilitation of each athletic event.
In addition, the Fitness and Recreation Manager will supervise the fitness center and fitness and wellness class program coordinated by the Office of Student Life.
The position will also supervise the student staff of the Fitness Center, and manage the recreational areas on campus (game room, nap nook, reflection room, outdoor athletic fields, and disc golf course).
The fitness and recreation specialist will also instruct weekly fitness classes on campus.

The office works cooperatively as a team with the Office of Academic and Accessibility Services, the Office of Student Housing, and the Student Health and Wellness Center.
The Office of Student Life supports the academic and social development of students through enhancing the quality of campus life serving over 2000 full-time graduate students.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Fitness and Recreation Overall Management:
Manage the budget for the Fitness and Recreation budget area including student staffing.
Provide general on-sight oversight of activities.
Manage all aspects of Intramural Sports:
Create schedule for all intramural sports offered.
Provide general on-sight oversight of activities.
Maintain Intramural Website, including information for each sport offered.
Contract for off-campus facilities when needed for intramural sports.
Communicate with facilities management on upkeep of current athletic facilities.
Serve as the central office for students to register for intramural sports.
Administer necessary paperwork needed to participate in necessary sports.
Evaluate each sport/ activity for potential safety and liability issues.
Consult University Legal Counsel and the University Insurance Coordinator when needed for activities.
Advise the Athletics Club and other fitness and recreation-related organizations.
Maintain sports equipment on campus and create an inventory of supplies.
Oversee and administer the Athletics Club budget on campus.
Manage the Fitness Program:
Oversee the daily maintenance of the fitness center and related facilities.
Communicate with Maintenance Service Provider necessary repairs to Fitness Center equipment.
Instruct group exercise class offerings on campus.
Hire and supervise student staff of the fitness center.
Coordinate student staffing schedule for the fitness center.
Work directly with Facilities Management to ensure Fitness Center janitorial service is meeting the needs of the center.
Communicate the rules and regulations of the Fitness Center to the community.
Maintain the Fitness and Recreation webpage on campus.
Implement fitness events on campus to enrich the environment.
Direct Wellness Activities Program:
Implement Wellness programming to enrich the environment on campus.
Oversee the budget allotted for Fitness and Wellness Activities on campus.
Maintain the game room, nap nook, and reflection room on campus and keep supply inventory up to date.
Work directly with the Office of Student Life team to provide service to support the student learning environment on campus.
Required Education and
Experience:
Master's Degree in a related field.
Two-three years of related work in fitness and recreation programming or student personnel services and one-year supervising student staff.
A broad base of knowledge related to fitness and recreation services, experience working with culturally diverse populations, the ability to advise student activities related to fitness and recreation on campus, and experience with working with large groups of students.
Conditions of Employment:
Must achieve background check clearance.
Must have proof of COVID-19 vaccination with booster or a university-approved exemption.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Possess a strong foundation in student development theory and/or fitness and recreation management.
Ability to analyze complex environments and problems and develop appropriate goals and strategies for solution.
Knowledge of applicable University, state, and federal laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Experience in the area of student affairs.
Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
Proficiency and knowledge of personal computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.
).
Preferred
Qualifications:
Master's degree in sports and recreation or higher education.
Certification in Aerobic Instruction and certification must be maintained during employment.
Typical physical demands and working conditions:
Typical Physical Demands:
Work is of a light physical demand in an office setting with duties performed while sitting, standing, or occasionally stooping a majority of the time.
Nature of position will include sports and recreation set up and oversight of the fitness center which requires physical ability to clean, organize, and move lightweight equipment up to 50 lbs.
Must also be able to instruct aerobic fitness classes on daily basis.
Typical Working Conditions:
Work is normally performed in a typical office environment and well as will be visiting some of our fitness and recreation partner facilities.
Some evening and weekend hours are required.
Work is of a light physical demand with duties being performed while sitting, standing, or occasionally stooping.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
